BMW has been known for sporty and fun-to-drive sedans, but its range of SUVs has slowly but steadily caught up with its sedans and coupes in terms of delivering driver enjoyment, and the BMW X3 is the perfect example. This compact luxury crossover is basically the SUV version of the much-loved BMW 3 Series and even shares its engines with the sure-footed sedan. The 2023 BMW X3 is powered by your choice of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, or a more assertive turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 382 hp. But even with the base engine, our review of the BMW X3 proves the high-rider is more than capable of delivering driving thrills and good performance. And when facing off against premium rivals that bring superior cabin comfort to the fight, the X2 takes on the Volvo XC60. The BMW X3 was restyled for the 2022 model year, so customers in the USA can expect little to change for 2023. BMW has added a standard keyless entry system, and gesture controls have been cut from the optional Premium package. 30i models are now offered with Skyscraper Gray metallic paint.
